Destination URL – Google Advertising Fundamental Exam
A sample question on Destination URL goes like this :1. The Destination URL in ads cannot link to ______________ . Choose all that apply.
a. Home Page
b. A webpage with a shopping cart
c. A secure site (https://yoururl.com)
d. A webpage that is not working ( php error etc)
e. A webpage under construction.
Always remember that questions like this require good old commonsense approach. Eliminate the ones that you think cannot be the answers.
A destination URL can link to a home page and a web page with a shopping cart. So (a) and (b) must go.
c. A secure site (https://yoururl.com)
d. A webpage that is not working ( php error etc)
e. A webpage under construction.
Between (c) , (d) and (e) choices (d) and (e) clearly stand out against the Google guidelines. Option (c) is where common sense approach must be used. A secure url is not against guidelines by any percent. In fact it adds an additional layer of security .
Hence the answer is
Answer: d,e
Google Guidelines on Destination URL
- Your website can’t be under construction or link to an error page. (option d and e)
- Your destination URL can’t return an error status code beginning with a 4 or a 5 (such as a 405 error).
- Your ad can’t link to an email address or a file. This includes image, audio, video, or document files that require an additional application to open or run (such as PDF files).
- Your landing page must work properly for all locations, regardless of where you’re targeting your ad.
- Landing pages must deliver the same content to all users and all IPs, from all browsers. Redirecting based on IP isn’t allowed.
- We’ve created this policy to help ensure the ads we show send users to properly working websites.
Sample Questions (Ad groups) – Google Adwords Mock Exam
There is at least one question around Ad groups. Here goes a sample question.Question: Creating Highly Specific Ad Groups Allows you to
Option 1: Target the right audience.
Option 2: Choose a better destination URL.
Option 3: Target The Right Languages And Locations
Option 4: Create ads that most accurately promote what you are offering.
Remember to use strike through options if you find difficulty in choosing the right option for such questions. You can arrive at the right choice by the process of eliminating the choices that you think are inappropriate. For instance option 1 says “target the right audience” . One of the reasons we run adwords or invest in marketing is to target the right audience. So leave option 1 and move on to option 2 .
Choosing a better destination has nothing to do with adgroups being specific and hence you can right click on the link and strike it through. Option 3 speaks about targeting right languages and locations. But targeting languages and locations is done in campaign settings. Hence we can strike through that option as well. Now our choices would look like this:
Option 1: Target the right audience.
Option 2: Choose a better destination URL.
Option 3: Target The Right Languages And Locations
Option 4: Create ads that most accurately promote what you are offering.
Between options (1) and (4) , 4 looks more relevant to the question. Again look for the keywords in the questions and options. Question has keyword ‘highly specific ad groups’ and option 4 is about ‘creating accurate ads’. Hence option (4) is the most appropriate answer.

Sample Question (Ad-scheduling) Google Adwords Exam
Ad Scheduling is an option available in Campaign settings. At a lazy glance , it looks like one of those numerous options Google Adwords has provided to the advertisers to overwhelm them. But it has some important implications and understanding this implication would help you get closer on your quest to become the certified professional.A sample question on Ad scheduling would be
Which of the Following Advertisers Would Be A Good Candidate For Ad Scheduling? (Choose all that apply)
Option 1) Pizza Delivery Company That Is Only Open From 5 P.M. To 1 A.M. Daily.
Option 2) An ice-cream shop which delivers ice-creams from 10 A. M to 7 P.M
Option 3) A real estate company which collects leads for site visit.
Option 4) A tech support company in India which provides technical support to customers in UK during their day hours.
(Choose all that apply) is the first thing that you should have noticed in this question. Choose all that apply questions in adwords exam atleast in my opinion is for those who take an open book exam. Before they finish answering the question by looking at the computer next to them they would have exhausted valuable time. And for people who have crammed the learning center and have not understood the concept will easily fall prey to ‘Choose all that apply’ questions.
But this question has a clue as is true with every question in the world. ‘Ad Scheduling’ is the keyword to be picked from this question. Option choices (1) and (2) definitely are candidates because they work in a particular time. Option 4 is made verbose and numbers are not used to represent time here. Instead ‘day hours’ is the term used to mean 9 a.m to 5 p.m or 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Hence Option (4) is also a good candidate. Option (3) speaks about an advertiser who is interested in collecting leads and following it up later. It is up-to the advertiser to schedule ads but this advertiser is not a good candidate for ad scheduling.
Hence the answer is choices (1) ,(2) and (4). Hope it helped.

Sample Question (CTR) – Google Adwords Fundamental Exam
Google likes to test the adwords exam takers with CTR’s formula.CTR = (Clicks/Impressions) x 100
A sample question would be
Question: If 50,000 people search for the keywords that triggers your ad, but only 250 people click on your ad , What would be the CTR?
Option 1) 0.5%
Option 2) 5%
Option 3)10%
Option 4)0.05%
Neither let the numbers in the option trick you nor the verbose question pull your leg or steal your time.
Always read the question twice before you look at the choices. Make a note of the inputs you need to answer the question.
If 50,000 people search for the keywords that triggers your ad, but only 250 people click on your ad , What would be the CTR?
There are three inputs required to choose an option. (1)CTR is what you have to find .(2)50,000 is the number of impressions and (3)250 is the number of clicks.
CTR’s formula from your learning = (Clicks/Impressions) x 100
Hence CTR = (250/50000) *100 = 0.5%
The choice is Option 1.
Exam Caveat/Tip : The most easiest question might trip you into failvalley. It is in those easiest questions you have to be sharp and pay attention as you cannot afford to lose scores in easy questions.
