On June 18, 2013, Google celebrated the tenth anniversary of their AdSense program. Many of you are probably already aware of this revenue-sharing advertising program that is open to publishers who join Google’s network.

Income is earned by publishers from advertising on their websites and blogs, including ads YouTube channels. AdSense is also available for content on mobile devices. As per reports from Google, the AdSense program has over two million publishers to date.

In order to earn income from the AdSense program, you have to apply for an AdSense account with Google. After approval, you will be given a unique publisher ID which you can use to display ads on various platforms. I am an AdSense Publisher and have used various types of their banner ads on my blogs and on my YouTube videos. I do better with AdSense on my YouTube channel compared to my blogs. However, I’ve not used this program to its fullest extent and would like to do better.

Fortunately for me, Google is offering a free 10-week course starting June 25, 2013. They are calling it the AdSense 10 Challenge and it is open to any of the publishers. The online course will run from June 25 to August 30, 2013 and will focus on helping publishers better understand the program and increase their revenue. Some of the key topics that will be covered in this course are: optimizing opportunities; understanding performance reports; understanding Google Analytics and making better decisions; understanding and engaging users; running various types of tests; leveraging from mobile platforms; and how to effectively use Google+.

I recently, attended a two-week course offered by YouTube Creator Academy, which was very useful. So I’m looking forward to getting the most out of this AdSense course because I think it will complement the YouTube course I recently completed. If you’d like to register for the course, you can do so at the Google AdSense blog.
